“How are you with the resurrection?”

Welcome

Opening Prayer

1 Corinthians 15:20-22 (NIV)

20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.

Apostels creed

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,

creator of heaven and earth;

I believe in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;*

He descended to the dead

on the third day he rose again

he ascended into heaven,

is seated at the right hand the Father

and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic* church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

Amen.

“How are you with the Resurrection?”

Today as we celebrate Easter I want us to consider How are we with the resurrection. How has God’s son dyeing on the cross and rising from the dead changed you? When we look at the resurrection first and foremost we need to realize the resurrection was victory over death in

John 11:25-26 (NIV)

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;

26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

This scripture begins by reassuring us that Jesus is the resurrection and the life, who ever believes in me shall never die. So if we believe Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead, then we to can have eternal life. The big question is asked at the end of this scripture, Do you believe this? No mater how many good things we do we cannot follow Jesus and live in eternity if we do not believe he rose from the dead. So today first and foremost we need to understand Jesus lives so that we may live in eternity. When we get that and believe, then we can have Hope and New life. When we believe in the resurrection it gives new believers the Hope and promise. That because Jesus was raised from the dead, we Christians can anticipate our own resurrection and restoration of all things in the future. This hope and the help of the Holy Spirit comforts us and gives us strength to handle all the challenges we face in this present life. You see God never abandons us, even when we are in a dark place he always gives us help. he never abandons us. do you realize the resurrection was for us? If it was not for our sin Jesus would never had to die on the cross. although dyeing on the cross not only saves us from eternal death and forgives all our sin but it also it gives us confirmation of Jesus’ identity. Just as in

Matthew 28:5-7 (NIV)

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

This scripture shows how the Angels gave proof to Mary and Mary Magdalene that Jesus was not there they gave them direction on how to spread the word and that they could confirm that he would be in town where they were sent. In this same way because of the resurrection we can confirm Jesus’ identity as the son of God and the Messiah. It validates his claim of his divine nature, and his authority to forgive sin. Which is an amazing blessing from God. Through the whole Lenten season we have been preparing for today. We looked at six different ways we could live our life differently. We have been studying ways which would be pleasing to Jesus Christ, and ways we could live out our faith in Him. As we studied we learned different aspects of Christianity that we normally don’t study. As we worshiped we looked at Probation, Persecution, Penitence, Monumental love, Perfume, and Procession. These were all in an attempt to worship Jesus in a total different view of how we can spend quality time in worship. As we grow as Christians we find Jesus died for our sins so that we could spend eternity with him in his fathers house not made of human hands. We need to realize that The resurrection also provides transformation and renewal it shows us the power of God to provide change in everyone's life, no matter where they are in their life. Jesus Christ came to the cross for the believer and the doubter. for the christian as well as the sinner. Let us think any of us were not worthy of God’s grace. You see Jesus was sent for us to have the opportunity to spend eternity with him. He guarantees us eternity, we have to decide where we want to spend it. As Jesus on the third day rose from the dead, signifies the spiritual rebirth. We have the privilege to receive if only we ask for Jesus's Grace. The rebirth recieved by the resurrection empowers believers to live by God’s will. overall the resurrection is the center of our christian faith. and the theology we as Christians are to live by. The cornerstone of the Christian belief system which offers believers hope, redemption, and the promise of eternal life with God. So as we go out as believers I ask “How are you with the resurrection?”

Amen
